Today I’m meeting up with Claudia in Ikebukuro to explore some more of Tokyo. Claudia, by the way, is the foreign exchange student from Barcelona. Spanish is her native language, as well as Catalan (the regional language of Spain). She also speaks french and English fluently, and Japanese much better than I. She wants to be a translator, as does Jordi, who can speak languages similarly.
Haha, my Japanese is getting better here but my English is getting worse. I try to explain things simply to Japanese people and just the fact that it doesn’t matter if I’m speaking it properly makes me kind of lazy. I just kind of throw the words out there sometimes and hope they understand. Also the backwards sentence structure of Japanese is making my english sound funny sometimes.
Anyways, tonight I think there is a big group of exchange students and Japanese people from Sophia going to a bar or a karoeke place in shinjuku. Karoeke is realllly popular here, by the way. This makes me nervous. Hopefully I’ll come out of it alive, if we do go, but no promises. My day is just starting but everybody in the US is winding down. Have a great evening!
