This is kind of hard to describe so bear with me here but the pictures should help. It’s also long overdue so I’ll talk about rafting (which was fantastic) another day.
A couple weeks ago Moe asked something along the lines of “do you want to ride in a boat my grandfather built” to which I extremely confusedly answered yes. The next day I went and realized it was not at all what I expected but had a fantastic day none the less. Turned out to be a tourist attraction where you get in a wooden boat made for 10 or so people and are paddled down a canal/river that has Sakura trees blossoming on the side.
Sakura is the national flower of Japan and it’s not hard to see why as Japanese people are fairly obsessed with it. It’s only visible for about 2 weeks out of the year so there’s a fairly large amount of effort put into predicting when those 2 weeks are.
Anyways, it was quite beautiful and I got to meet Moe’s grandfather and mom which was fun. Neither of them speak English and my Japanese is still quite bad so it was a bit rough. It was a great time and allowed for some of my only photo taking since returning from Southeast Asia.
