So yesterday was the big one month mark for my time here in Japan. A month? That’s crazy! It seems like forever ago that I was in the US casually mentioning how I’m going to be living in Tokyo for the next year of my life. It’s hard to pinpoint when the feeling of “wow, I’m seriously going to be living in Tokyo for the next year of my life” really hit me though. The first week crawled by but the rest of the month seems like it went by in an instant.
I have so much to say but not nearly enough time to write it all down. I’ve been running around outside and hanging out with friends most of the last week but I’m most certainly going to write more about things once things get less busy.
Today I went to a 300 yen bar where everything was, believe it or not, 300 yen (around 3 dollars). This includes lots of various food items which we bought many of and all split for dinner. It was pretty fantastic and I ended up getting the last train back with 5 minutes to spare (way too close, actually).

Shiori is a total badass. She has great taste in music, more fashion sense than even the typical Japanese (and that’s a lot), and is incredibly nice. She’s been to way too many concerts to mention, including Tool, The Flaming Lips, Daft Punk, Bloc Party, and on and on and on.

Tomorrow night I’m going to run around Tokyo with Moe trying to get a picture for dpchallenge’s “Trains and Railroads” challenge. DPC is a great website that gives members a couple “challenges” a week to take pictures of. At the end of the week everybody anonymously rates the pictures submitted and they are graded and ranked. It’s a really useful way to get feedback on pictures and I’ve learned pretty valuable lessons from each picture I’ve submitted. You can check out my profile there here.
