Yesterday was a vacation day for us Sophia University students and something extremely strange happened: I woke up earlier yesterday than I’ve ever willingly woken up during a weekend in college.
I woke up at 7 am and got things together and wasted some time on the internet before I left at 9:15 to meet Moe at 10:30 in Odaiba. Well, I thought I knew how to get there, but as it turned outtt I was pretty much wrong about things. I ended up in a subway station that had nothing in it and called Moe:
“Moeeeeeeeee! I’m losttttttttt! Helppppppppp!”
With her guidance I ended up where I needed to be. And where I needed to be happened to be Shinbashi station, where I grabbed a twice as expensive as usual raised monorail line from the mainland to the island of Odaiba. Odaiba is a manmade island that houses a lot of extremely expensive shopping malls (such as Venus Fort) and interesting tourist attractions.
Here’s a couple more pictures from the inside of the monorail.
When I got there Moe and I walked a shopping mall that was going for a more traditional approach.
For lunch we had fast food. Japanese fast food though… which turned out to be these strange but delicious fried octopus balls.
We walked around a lot and saw the amazinggg Fuji Television Building
After that we wandered around Venus Fort
Watched a beautiful sunset
Admired Rainbow Bridge…
and crossed it. It was all wayyy too incredible and it’s amazing that I can go as many times as I desire over the next year. Thanks for being awesome, Tokyo!
