So apparently 3 days a week I have a different instructor for Japanese class who appears to be far more difficult than the other 2 day a week instructor. She pretty much only speaks in Japanese and makes us talk in front of the class far more often than we’re all comfortable doing. It’s for our own good, of course, but that doesn’t make it any more pleasant.

Tomorrow night I’m going to a Melt Banana concert with Shiori. Melt Banana is a 4 peice Japanese noise rock band that I started listening to a couple years ago when I wanted to try to add some variety to my iPod. I knew when I came to Tokyo I would have to see them and conveniently enough they play pretty frequently here, so I was pretty dangdong excited when Shiori said they were playing and I’m pretty dangdong excited to be going to this.

Yasuko starts every show by yelling “We are Melt Banana from Tokyo, Japan!” Her rapid-fire delivery and Agata’s frenetic guitar riffs infuse crowds with energy.
