Spent New Years Eve drinking with friends at an Izakaya and then attempting to hear the epic 108 bells at Meiji Shrine. We ended up being late and caught in a group of a few thousand people near to the shrine when midnight came so we didn’t really get much of a countdown, although it was still fun. New Years seems to be more of a family holiday than a run-around-drunk-with-friends thing. Japanese people generally go to shrines and pray for good luck during the coming year, so on New Years Day Christina, Moe, and I went to Gokoku-ji temple to do just that. Today we attempted to go to the Salvador Dali exhibit in Ueno but there was a ridiculous 90 minute line and we came too late in the evening so we decided to retry again tomorrow. School starts again in a week so I’m enjoying more time doing nothing, but it’s only in session for a month before we get all of February and March off for a break. Crazzzzyyyyy!
