Questions are easy:

What classes are you taking this semester? Intensive Japanese - 3 hours of Japanese 5 days a week, and macroeconomics. When I get back to America I should just have one more liberal arts credit to take, none of which are offered here. Japanese class is a bit painful just because I’ve learned the grammar and vocabulary before so mostly I only learn during the kanji sections of class.

Does teaching English mean that you are understanding Japanese well enough to explain English to Japanese speaking people, or are you polishing English for English-speaking Japanese people? It depends on the student. One of my students knows English grammar and vocabulary quite well but his pronunciation and listening are so bad it’s absolutely impossible to have a conversation. In that case all I really have to do is help him form the right sounds with his mouth which is a surprisingly exhausting task. The other students I’ve had have all been quite terrible at English but had better pronunciation. In that case it’s kind of nostalgic for me because I just think about all the things I couldn’t say in Japanese and then see if they can say it in English.

Is it true that all Japanese people are tiny and we comparatively giant Americans can ride around on them like ponies? Yes, this is true actually. My morning commute takes 50 minutes by subway, or surprisingly enough only 40 minutes if I ride a Japanese person pony.

Does the product of the expectations of two random variables equal the expectation of the product? No, unless the random variables don’t know each other (independent) (thanks Dad!).

What’s going to happen when this baby hit’s 88 miles per hour??? You’re going to see some serious (insert your favorite word here)!
