I’m back in Raleigh now, where I go to college, after having a great time in Asheville and seeing a lot of old friends and family I haven’t seen in way too long. There were a lot of people I didn’t get to see though, sorry! Had a really nice time at lake Chatuge for a few days with the family. Thanks Mom & Dad!
I’m trying to keep a positive attitude about things here, and I’d say I’m doing a pretty good job considering my extreme shift from Tokyo, Japan to Raleigh, North Carolina. It would certainly be easier if I hadn’t left Moe on the other side of the planet.
This semester I’m taking Physics 411 - Mechanics 1, Physics 414 - Electromagnetism 1, Computer Science 246 - Operating Systems, and Math 401 - Applied Differential Equations 2. It’s only 12 hours, but this semester is not going to be easy. I am especially intimidated by the 2 physics classes which are notoriously difficult. I went to them today and the fact that I don’t remember much math or physics set in frighteningly well. I’m going to be going through my old physics textbooks this next week and working through things in the hope that it’ll come back to me, which I think it will.
Chris, Geoffrey (2 of my roommates) and Lizzy turned 21 recently, happy birthday duddddes!
I’ve got 2 years before I graduate and gain some freedom.
My hobby recently has been studying Japanese Kanji with guitar hero 2 thrown in here and there during breaks. I’m using this book which has made studying Kanji infinitely easier. I’ve gotten about 1000 Kanji done (the book covers the most important 2042) and have been reviewing them all along the way. I highly recommend this book to anybody that is really serious about learning all the kanji.
Anyways, things are good although I’d be lying if I didn’t say I missed Japan, Moe, and all the friends I made there. I plan on continuing this blog for at least another year and eventually posting more pictures from Japan, America, and Southeast Asia as well as updates on things.
Here are a couple pictures from the lake, courtesy of Michael:
