Pictures

Had a great time in Luang Prabang, but soon I’m going to go to Vang Vieng to spend 3 or 4 days there.
Less writing this time, but more pictures at:

The Gibbon Experience

A bit of a change of plans as an early opening in The Gibbon Experience allowed us to do it way before we had scheduled to on March 2nd.  We finished it today and took a bus up to Luang Namtha where we are taking actual showers again until we head to Luang Prabang tomorrow […]

Laos

Laos is… not Thailand.  At all.  It’s considerably less developed.  In Thailand there are ATMs set up all over the place, even in some of the really remote cities we stayed at.  In Laos there are ATMs in 2 cities in the entire country, the closest of which I’m a 2 day boat ride from.  […]

bye bye truck, hello Laos

Well, we cried as we had to give the truck back today after 4 beautiful days of driving around the mountains of Northen Thailand.  We hung out in Chiang Rai today, got some stuff together, and then took a bus to the Thailand-Laos border where we’ll be crossing into Laos tomorrow.

Northern Mountains

This is our 3rd day with the truck, and so far every moment of the last 2 have been amazing.  We rode up into really remote mountain villages where the people are friendly and wave at us when we go by.  We found a really beautiful hike in Doi Inthanon national park and continued through […]

road trip!

Today Allan, Nick, and I rented a truck.  It’s 4 doors, seats 5, and has a pretty big space in the back.  We’re going to take it west to the border and ride north into Pai, continuing up around Chiang Rai where we’ll drop the truck off in 4 days.  After that we’ll head into […]

Chiang Mai 2

That “traditional” dinner thing I went to ended up being realllly cheesy. Tons of middle aged tourists there with cameras taking pictures of the not-so-impressive traditional Thai dancing. It was really funny at least, this Australian guy Andy and I had a great time laughing about the whole experience so I certainly don’t […]

Pictures

I don’t have time to link them up all fancy or edit them but I uploaded some pictures to Flickr that you can check out here:

I’m going more for the “lots of pictures that are less good” than my typical “a few pictures that I think are better.” This will make some people […]

Chiang Mai

I’m going to work backwards a little because it’s way easier to do, so let me just say that I’m using the free internet access at my ridiculously sweet house-turned-into-hostel that I just arrived at. For 7 dollars a night this place is pretty ridiculous. It’s essentially a realllly clean house with really […]

Bangkok

Bangkok is dirttyyyyyy.  Tokyo is sensory overload sometimes with the sounds, crowds, lights, and just general ridiculousness of it.  Add onto that the fact that now I went back to the beginning with the language here (which sounds way weirder than Japanese) and add the fact that Bangkok stinks like you are constantly walking beside […]
